I’m Dr Mathilde Pavis, legal counsel to actors’ unions and agents, with 10+ years experience in the field.

I began my career as a law academic, teaching contract law and advocating for strong performers’ rights. When deepfakes first appeared on social media in 2016, I moved into private practice to help unions and policymakers prepare for the risks I could see coming. Few were paying attention at the time, but that changed quickly.

I have since advised leading tech companies, governments (including the UN), and artists’ unions on AI, digital replicas, and performers’ rights. In 2026, I founded The Agents Counsel to bring my expertise directly to people who need it most: actors and their agents.
